- Q: Why is the name of latest version "OpenCoop 2.0 alpha" ?
A: Its version 2.0, cause we go on with mapbugs und codebug fixes and passed some internal milestones 1.1 => 2.0. Its an alpha, cause its a public test of first integreated RoE features not fully working all RoE stuff.
- Q: Does OpenCoop 2.0 alpha require Resurrection of Evil ?
A: No, you can use OpenCoop without Resurrection of Evil as well. You can't play Resurrection of Evil Coop than...
- Q: Why does OpenCoop 2.0 Alpha not work with my current Doom3 version?
A: OpenCoop 2.0 Alpha only works with the Doom3 1.3.1 .
- Q: I get the error 'wrong API version'. What is wrong?
A: You have to install Doom3 version 1.3.1 to make it working. Link can be found in our filesection.
- Q: What is the webpage of OpenCoop ?
A: http://www.d3opencoop.com The site you just visiting .
- Q: Will OpenCoop support Resurrection of Evil ?
A: Yes, OpenCoop 2.0alpha supports RoE, you can play all maps cooperative.
- Q: What is Coop gameplay ?
A: Coop is short for co-operative gameplay. You play with your teammates through the singleplayer levels and fight against the demons.
- Q: Is OpenCoop playable over LAN and internet ?
A: Yes, OpenCoop runs great in both modes.
- Q: Is it possible to play custom singleplayer maps with OpenCoop ?
A: Most custom maps should be playable with OpenCoop out of the box. But they don't show up in the multiplayer menu by default. You can select them via console using the command 'si_map <mapname>' and than 'spawnserver'. We have a tutorial for this here.
- Q: What's the difference between the new skill levels and the old ones ?
- uberHard (g_skill 4): Same like hard + The damage done by the players to a monster will decrease if more players are on the server. The consequence is that monsters live longer and more cooperation is needed to get one monster down.
- pureEvil (g_skill 5): Same like uberHard + The damage done by the monsters to a player will increase if more players are on the server.
- customSkill (g_skill -1): everything customizeable
- healthpool on/off
- PerPlayer PDAs
- PerPlayer weapons
- ScalePlayerDamage
- ScaleMonsterDamage
- Q: Is it possible to use OpenCoop with other mods ?
A: In general I would say no. There may be serveral exceptions, for example a mod which only adjusts weapon settings like amount of ammo, etc.
- Q: I don't see any maps in the 'create server' menu. What's wrong ?
A: Just press the gametype oc_doom3 button once.
- Q: I have installed OpenCoop and I can't connect to servers with the gametype 'coop' or 'sp coop'. What is wrong ?
A: The gametype names have changed in OpenCoop version 1.0. You can only connect to servers with gametype 'oc_doom3', 'oc_customs' and 'oc_hellwave' when having RoE installed you can connect to 'oc_d3xp' aswell.
- Q: Everytime I pick up a weapon the game switches to it automatically. How can I fix it?
A: Check your config in the mainmenu at: mainmenu=>options=>game options=>auto weapon switch or just type ui_autoSwitch 0 into the console. This will disable autoswitching the weapons.
- Q: Does work OpenCoop under Linux ?
A: Yes, but only the old version 1.0 of OpenCoop had Linux support.
- Q: I get the error Error: file ocpak00.pk4/script/doom_events.script, line 141: Unknown event 'setNetShaderParm'. What's wrong?
A: This error is occuring if you tried to start OpenCoop under linux or mac os in Opencoop Beta 4.0 and older versions. On a windows system this also occurs if you have installed it wrong. Mac OS is still not supported.
- Q: How many players does OpenCoop support ?
A: OpenCoop supports up to four players. It would be easy to add up to 32 player support but we don't think it makes sence on the gameplay side as well as on the performance side.
- Q: Can ammo be dropped in OpenCoop ?
A: Only weapons can be dropped in OpenCoop.
- Q: I want to use noclip / notarget / god in multiplayer, but it doesn't work!
A: Cheating in multiplayer is disabled by default. To enable cheats the server has to type 'net_allowCheats 1' at the console.
- Q: How many times has OpenCoop been downloaded ?
A: OpenCoop has been download over 10000 times from various pages.
- Q: When will be a new version of OpenCoop released ?
A: Currently there is no releasedate planned.
- Q: I found a bug. Why did you not fix it ?
A: Please post infos about bugs in our "Bugtracker" thread.
- Q: I recently installed the Doom3 v1.2 patch from ROE. Does OpenCoop 1.0 work with it?
A: No. OpenCoop 1.0 only works with Doom3 v1.3, which can be downloaded from www.iddevnet.com
- Q: I want to extract the .pk4 files to shorten load times. Good idea?
A: No, please don't do that. You will mess up the file loading scheme, at least when you install the new patch. This may also be the cause for the "Data not in Sync with Serve Data" error.
- Q: I get the "Data not in sync with server data" error when connecting to a game. What's wrong with this mod ?
A: There may be serveral possible causes for this error:
- The server that you connected to has a gametype that is different from OpenCoop. Only servers with gametype "oc_doom3", "oc_customs", "oc_hellwave" and "oc_d3xp" are OpenCoop servers.
- You just installed the mod wrong and the directory structure is messed up. Take a look at our Install Instructions to make it right.
- You copied this version over an old installation of OpenCoop. Go and read the install instructions.
- You or the server you are connecting to has not installed Doom3 v1.1 correctly.
- You or the server you are connecting to did not start the game with "+si_game opencoop".
- You or the server you are connecting to have custom data in their \base directory. Custom data may be additional .paks or everything else which does not belong to the pure installation of Doom3 and its patch. In general: Custom data in your \base directory is evil! If you want to keep these custom .pak files make sure that the server has EXACTLY the same .pak files as you have!
- If the error is still not solved for you, try searching the http://www.doom3world.org forums for "Data not in sync". It is not a bug of OpenCoop, you just messed something up.
- Q: Why is OpenCoop lagging so much ?
A: Because we are transmitting soooo much data around the net to keep all the stuff in sync.
- Q: Does it work with the same cd key with 2 computers ?
A: Yes, but only on LAN. ( But it is not allowed to use two versions of d3 at the same time. )
